How sweet the smell...

I love blossom!

I love the smell,
the way it contrasts against the dark branches of the leafless tree.

I love that it signals the ending of winter - when I see the blossoms emerge, I know there is hope of better things to come

I also love blossom in Asian art. I bought this last time I was back in Melbourne

Oh I love blossoms. There aren't as many in Inner West Sydney as there were in Eastern Melbourne and I really miss them. But interesting- at a local super-market they sold metre long branches with blossoms attached. Don't know where they are getting a vase big enough!

We still have a blossom tree out the front--thanks for the reminder!

I was thinking of planting a blossom tree in our garden. The council replaced the ones in the nature strips with different trees and I miss them.

bgsydneside - you may not find as many in Eastern Melbourne as there were - not sure if they are replacing them for water conservation reasons or because they tend not to be as hardy and long lasting as the native trees they are planting. They have also been replacing many of the flowering plants that were in median strips with grasses etc.

Hello Andrea, It's been such a long time since I have talked to you, but your Mum gave me your Blog address this morning and I just had to see what you have been doing since our trip to the Grand Canyon. Hope that all is well and that you are enjoying Perth.
