An example of Broome drink driving perhaps?

I noticed this the day after I wrote the post about Broome's title of 'WA's drink-driving capital'. Apparently there was a police chase and the offender forgot about the roundabout and went straight over this divider.

It brought up the long running issue in the local paper of the lack of street lighting along Broome Road. The orange thing is a floodlight and generator which currently attempts to illuminate the roundabout. Because the airport runway (poor picture, sorry) is so close to this road and intersection, the height of any lights has to be restricted. So the generator will have to do for a while yet.

I (stupidly perhaps) would have thought they'd use more solar powered lighting with all the sunshine up there.
